Biography
Joel Beier is a graduate student in the Learning Sciences area of the Educational Psychology program at UW-Madison. He earned his B.A. in psychology at Wabash College and a M.A. in teaching at the University of Saint Francis. He enjoyed five years of teaching experience with high school science courses and worked as a USATF certified high school head track coach. He currently works with Dr. Martina Rau in the Learning Representations and Design Lab and is interested in understanding the ways that students communicate about and use visual representations to understand scientific concepts. He is also interested in the pedagogical implications of this understanding.
